Frequently Asked Questions
Get answers to common questions about Chrome Finish.
A Chrome Finish usually lasts about 2–3 weeks on gel or acrylic, depending on nail growth and daily wear. Proper prep, curing, and a quality topcoat help maximize longevity; schedule touch-ups when you notice lifting or wear.
Chrome pigment is applied over cured gel or acrylic for best results. For natural nails we recommend a protective gel base before chrome. Your technician will assess nail health and suggest the safest option to avoid damage.
Chrome works best over fully cured, smooth gel polish or opaque gel colors. Some hues enhance the mirror effect; light bases and black provide different finishes. Regular polish without a gel base won’t produce optimal chrome results.
When applied and sealed properly, chrome resists normal wear but can chip from harsh chemicals, frequent water exposure, or heavy abrasion. Wearing gloves for chores and using cuticle oil helps preserve shine and prevent premature wear.
Avoid abrasive cleaners, prolonged water exposure, and harsh chemicals. Apply cuticle oil daily, wear gloves for cleaning, and book gentle topcoat refreshes. Regular maintenance keeps the mirror effect looking fresh longer.
Removal depends on the underlying system: gel chrome requires professional soak-off or filing to avoid damage; acrylic with chrome usually needs salon removal. We recommend a technician to safely remove and protect nail integrity.
